Sonya Knight, MBA- Co Founder/CFO
Even from the early days of the school playground Sonya had an instinct for numbers and problem solving. The decades long growth of this in-depth thinking led her to follow the path of becoming an accountant. (The other career option was to become a neurosurgeon, but she figured navigating complex tax code might be equally as challenging.)
While earning her Bachelor’s in Accounting from Norfolk State University and gaining her MBA from Virginia Wesleyan University (2019), Sonya got her feet wet in traditional CFO services by working in bookkeeping, financial planning, budgeting, and financial statement analysis. She now has over 10 years’ experience in tax preparation and as an internal and external auditor.
Sonya marries her love of puzzles and reading into her daily workflow. Taking the time to thoroughly dissect numbers and tax returns makes her an asset to the Knights and Company team, which she is especially honored to be a part of.
Sonya looks forward to working with the clients and building long-term relationships and is excited to assist her existing and new clients.
Dariel Knight- Co Founder/CEO
As the CEO of Knights and Company, I bring a certified expertise in tax, payroll, and bookkeeping to the table. My ten years of experience in accounting have made it an integral part of my skillset. My personal circumstances, including a large family and a mathematically inclined spouse, have further solidified my passion for accounting.
Kala Zornow, CMA- Advisory
Kala Zornow is an accomplished Certified Management Accountant with expertise in financial strategy, leadership, and process improvement. She obtained her Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and Finance from University of Wisconsin in 2010. She furthered her education and completed her Masters in Business Administration in 2012, followed by completion of the CMA certification. With expertise spanning nonprofit organizations, real estate and property management firms, and small businesses, Kala's client-centered approach ensures tailored, impactful results. Beyond her professional achievements, Kala enjoys managing her own rental properties with her husband, combining her love for real estate with hands-on experience. She is based in the Midwest, loves mini dachshunds, and enjoys a good fish fry with her family.
Taheem Harris-Virginia Beach Office Manager
Taheem Harris is a detail-driven Office Assistant, Entrepreneur, and Food Truck Owner with expertise in administrative support, technical troubleshooting, and entrepreneurial leadership. With experience spanning office administration, food truck operations, and community engagement, Taheem's passion for efficiency and customer satisfaction delivers exceptional results.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Taheem enjoys experimenting with new recipes, riding motorcycles, and exploring the Hampton Roads region. He is also passionate about continuous learning, with a particular interest in finance, seeking to enhance his business acumen and entrepreneurial pursuits.
Brittany Giles-Bookkeeper
Brittany Giles is a skilled accounting technician based in the Hampton Roads area, recognized for her exceptional problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail. With a strong foundation in accounting, she has successfully managed financial operations across diverse sectors, including healthcare, the shipping industry, and several government agencies. Brittany’s expertise lies in her ability to ensure accuracy while achieving positive outcomes, leveraging her time management skills to handle complex tasks efficiently.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, Brittany is set to graduate in April 2025. She holds an Associate Degree in Accounting and continues to expand her knowledge to further enhance her impact in the field.
Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, Brittany is a dedicated mother who values spending quality time with her family. She is an avid reader and enjoys following both basketball and football. Her commitment to precision, personal growth, and work-life balance drives her success both at work and beyond.

With a rich background in healthcare and education, she is a visionary leader dedicated to uplifting those around her. Diane Orlik- Marketing Analyst
Diane Orlik is a Marketing Analyst at Knights & Co, where Diane does market research, develop strategies, and prepare and present results to clients and management to help the business, including researching consumer opinions, preferences, advertising campaigns and products and service promotions. She obtained her Bachelors in Hospitality Management in 2014 from Kendall College in Chicago.
Diane has worked in other career fields displaying the above traits and experiences, including being assistant coordinator and President of the Naval MWR committee, and along with others. Diane helps Knights & Co decide on which products and services to offer and at what price that suits their budget and goals.
